GARY | A 32-year-old man was shot as he responded to an apparent break-in Thursday night at his residence in the 3800 block of Tennessee Street.

Police said the victim received notice around 10:20 p.m., that his home’s security alarm had been activated. On arriving, the victim was reportedly walking up to his home when he suddenly heard shots being fired and was struck in the leg.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of his wound.
