GARY | A 32-year-old Gary man told police he was shot during an attack on the street there late Wednesday.
The man told officers he was standing outside his car in the 4200 block of Harrison Street at 11:22 p.m. when he was approached by two men who attacked him, police said. The man told police he defended himself and one man pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking him.
The man drove away from the scene and called 911 when he got to the 200 block of West 44th Avenue, police said. He was taken to the emergency room at Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary for treatment.
