Robbers forced two women into a bathroom at gunpoint while they ransacked their Gary apartment, according to police.
The armed robbery took place at about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 2500 block of Wabash Avenue in Gary.
The women returned home to the apartment and went to the back, where a masked man in a hoodie was outside smoking a cigarette, Gary Police Department Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
He ordered them inside at gunpoint, took their jewelry and forced them into the bathroom while two other men rushed into the apartment, King said.
They ransacked the apartment, stealing a television, a DVD player and other household items, while one of the men stood guard outside the closed bathroom door, King said.
The women escaped the bathroom and called police after they heard the men leave, King said. The suspects were gone when police arrived at the scene.
