GARY | A memorial service is scheduled Friday for Christian Choate, the boy whose body authorities believe they found in a shallow grave in a Gary mobile home park earlier this month.
A visitation is open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m., and a memorial is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. at Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 W. Ridge Road, Gary.
Choate's father and stepmother, Riley Choate and Kimberly Choate, have been charged with neglecting, beating, confining and murdering the boy before moving his body and failing to notify police of his death.
Authorities said the boy was dead for two years before a tip led them to Riley Choate, who showed police where the body was located.
Ridgelawn Funeral Home and Ridgelawn Cemetery owner Robert Williams said he is donating full services because he feels "obligated" to help.
