CROWN POINT | A Michigan City man already serving 20 years for shooting at a couple on Interstate 80/94 was sentenced Wednesday to an additional 50 years in the murder of a teenage friend.

Aaron Windom, 27, pleaded guilty last month to fatally shooting Deandre Wilson, 17, of Gary, early Feb. 19, 2011.

In part due to Wilson's being unarmed during their encounter and Windom's extensive criminal history, Lake Criminal Court Judge Thomas Stefaniak Jr. ordered the sentences to be served consecutively.

Windom admitted shooting Wilson, a friend of his, as Windom walked toward a Dodge Charger the two men were arguing about. The Charger had been reported carjacked in Wisconsin.

Stefaniak also took into consideration Wilson was shot multiple times two days after Windom had fired shots at the couple on the interstate.

Windom was sentenced to serve 20 years after being convicted of attempted battery for shooting at a couple's car near the Lake Station exit.

Windom's car pulled alongside the couple's car and he fired shots at the car, wounding one person.
