GARY | Miller Beach Arts and Creative District will be hosting two events this weekend.
The Denny Davis Retro Spective will be open for one final weekend. Swing by Saturday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. or Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. to view Davis' works of art.
Denny Davis, who died in 2010, was a former Miller Beach resident who painted professionally in his studio for more than 15 years. Before that, he was a successful toy maker. His vibrantly colored acrylic abstracts and landscapes, which are owned by art lovers all around the country, reflect his playfulness and bold spirit.
The Miller Beach Arts and Creative District will also present "Judy Garland: The Concert Years" this Saturday at 7 p.m. The evening includes a documentary, wine and dessert. The documentary is filled with some of Garland's finest filmed performances, including duets with Barbra Streisand, Lena Horne, Liza Minelli and Tony Bennett.
Both events will be held at the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts, 540 S. Lake St., Gary.
