GARY | On May 18 the Miller Garden Club will hold its Annual Plant Sale at the Marquette Park Aquatorium, 6918 Oak Avenue, in Gary.
“We will be featuring healthy vegetables and beautiful flowers, that members of the Garden Club have started from seed and/or divided plants, along with a vast assortment of garden paraphernalia, including gently used gardening tools, accessories and various treasures for sale to the public”, President Karin Crane said.
There will be many, many bargains available from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
New at this year’s sale are herbs along with pumps and accessories for rain barrels, rain barrels, composters and Cedar birdhouses.
The new rain barrels accessories include plant hangers for 4-inch diameter or smaller pots which allows the homeowner to blend their rain barrel into the yard with a more ascetically pleasing look. In addition, barrel netting will be available as a perfect inexpensive solution for gardeners who don’t want the barrel to draw the eye away from their plants. The plastic netting will allow fast growing vines to leaf out and cover the rain barrel with flowers and become a beautiful addition to their gardens.
All items will be available for pick-up at the Aquatorium on June 1.
The Miller Garden Club was founded in 1998 and is thriving in the Miller Beach community of Gary, Indiana. The members work tirelessly to beautify the community, tending to gardens along the Lake Street business district, the South Shore train station, the library and firehouse.
The Garden Club’s mission is to assist in the beatification of the lakefront, help stimulate gardening knowledge among its members, and aid in the protection of the community’s native trees and plants.
