GARY | A ranger with the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore leads hikes through Miller Woods on Sundays.
This trail features one of the rarest habitats in the country, black oak savanna. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. every Sunday in June.
Depending on the weather, the length of the hike can vary from one-half mile to three miles. The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education, where the hike will start, is in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street.
