GARY | A 10-month-old baby has been airlifted to a Chicago hospital after falling from a third-floor window, police said.
At neighbor from the first floor heard Kyan Powell crying about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday outside an apartment building in the 500 block of Van Buren Street.
The neighbor recognized the baby, picked him up, called 911 and woke up his mother, Tiesha Powell, on the third floor, Gary police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
The baby was taken to the hospital for treatment, then airlifted to Chicago, King said.
Police are treating it as an accident and no charges are expected to be filed, King said.
