GARY | An 18-year-old Gary man died late Tuesday after he and another man were shot in the head there Monday night.
Deshalone Williams, of the 200 block of Hamlin Street, was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m. in the intensive care unit of Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head suffered in an apparent homicide.
A witness told Gary police that at 10:05 p.m. Monday, Williams and Terrell Frazier, of the 300 block of Calhoun Street in Gary, were at a gas station at 15th Avenue and Clark Road when Williams agreed to give an unknown man a ride.
Williams drove north on Clark Road with the unknown man, Frazier and another person in the vehicle.
Police said the unknown man told the driver to pull over at Seventh Avenue and Clark Road. As the man got out of the vehicle, he pulled out a gun and shot Wililams and Frazier in their heads before fleeing on foot.
Frazier and Williams were taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus by a private vehicle. Frazier, 21, was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday at the hospital. His death also was ruled a homicide.
