GARY | Gary police are questioning a person of interest in connection with a fatal stabbing Wednesday at a city home.

Gregory Cole, 20, of the 2000 block of Tennessee Street, was pronounced dead at his home at 6:12 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner's office.

The cause of death was listed as stab wounds suffered in an apparent homicide.

Officers were called about 5 a.m. to Cole's home for a welfare check and found Cole unresponsive with multiple stab wounds, police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.

King said an 18-year-old person of interest was being questioned.
