GARY | A Gary man was arrested Monday after fleeing from officers with stolen items in his vehicle, police said.
Steven M. Wingate, 24, was charged with resisting arrest and burglary, police said. He also was issued five traffic citations.
A Gary officer tried to stop Wingate, who was speeding about 10:30 a.m. near the 3500 block of Colfax Street, police said. Wingate kept driving and lost control of his vehicle when he made a turn, police said.
Officers found stolen items, including a laptop in his vehicle, police said. The laptop was linked to a burglary in Griffith, police said.
