GARY | Police said a 54-year-old woman was injured Wednesday when she was hit by a vehicle during an altercation with a neighbor in the 400 block of Tyler Street.

The woman told police she got into an argument with her 82-year-old neighbor over the placement of some garbage about 6:45 a.m., police said. During the encounter, the man went to his vehicle, pulled out a power tool and threatened to “cut her head off," police said.

When the power tool wouldn’t start, the man got into his vehicle and hit the victim in her leg before fleeing the scene, according to police reports.

The woman refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.
