GARY | Three people, including two teenagers, were shot in the city in a span of 12 hours Wednesday and Thursday, police said.

None of the victims' injuries appeared to be life-threatening, Gary police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.

At 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 16-year-old Gary boy told police he was in front of a home in the 1700 block of Fifth Avenue when shots rang out, King said. A bullet, or bullets, struck him in the leg. He was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, King said.

At 12:15 a.m. Thursday, a 17-year-old Gary boy said he was in in the 5800 block of East 13th Place when a car drove by and someone inside fired shots at him, King said. As in the Wednesday shooting, the teen was taken to the hospital in a private car.

At 12:25 a.m. Thursday, a 21-year-old Lake Station man told police he was walking in the 6000 block of East Sixth Place when he was shot multiple times.

None of the shootings appears to be related, King said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shootings to call Sgt. Larry Robertson at (219) 881-7545.
