GARY | Police said they investigated a loud noise, which some initially believed sounded like a gunshot, near Roosevelt College and Career Academy Monday.

According to a Gary police report, the incident occurred about 3:41 p.m. The report said the noise occurred as a school bus was leaving the school. The report said no one was injured, and the bus was not damaged.

Roosevelt Principal Donna Henry said officers investigated and determined gunshots were not fired. She said "fireworks were set off in Delaney, which coincided with our dismissal."
