GARY | An expressway ramp was shut down for hours after a semitrailer fell on its side and spilled metal lids across the road, police said.
The driver of the semitrailer, Ramin Allazov, wasn't injured but was issued citations for unsecured load and unsafe lane movement.
Allazov, 28, of Chicago, took a northbound ramp from Interstate 65 to westbound Interstate 80 too quickly and tipped the load, according to an Indiana State Police news release.
The truck's load of 40,000 pounds of metal lids spilled across the area, causing officials to close the road for several hours.
