GARY | Ryan Azbill's Christmas spirit couldn't be broken Tuesday even though a thief stole his holiday decorations from his yard.
"Whoever took it, I hope it gives you as much joy as it gave us in the time that we had it," he said. "If you needed it that bad, I hope you enjoy it."
Azbill, 28, of Gary, noticed the 5-foot-tall, plastic Santa and three reindeer had been ripped from the place where they were attached to his home in the 2300 block of King Street on Tuesday.
He and his family have been living in the home for four years and he said it takes a lot of work to decorate and put up lights to spread a little holiday cheer on his street.
“It was a shock,” he said. “It was like a slap in the face to me while I was trying to do something nice.”
Police took a theft report and ask that anyone with information about the stolen decorations can contact them at (219) 881-1231.
