Graduating high school seniors from Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton and Jasper counties can apply for a scholarship program offered by the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana and the Northwest Indiana McDonald's Operators.

The HOPE Scholarship program will provide 20 nonrenewable scholarships, each of which are for $1,000.

To qualify for the scholarship, students must participate in volunteer activities, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and intend to pursue education in business management, hospitality or agriculture at a credited college, university or technical trade school.

Students interested in the HOPE Scholarship program can visit www.foodbanknwi.org for an application and full instructions.

Applications will be accepted until May 24. Scholarship recipients will be announced in June.
