GARY | Seven people, including a Highland woman, were taken Saturday to the Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus following a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 80, just east of Grant Street.
According to Indiana State Police, about 7 p.m., a Michigan-based semitrailer driver rear-ended a car driven by a Huntley, Ill., woman, which in turn caused the three cars ahead of it to crash.
Police said the semitrailer driver was cited for following too closely and a log book violation. He was not injured, police said.
Seven people in the other cars all suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus.
Police said some westbound lanes were closed for 90 minutes while vehicles were removed.
