GARY | The 18th Street Brewery in the Miller Beach neighborhood is one step closer to opening later this summer.

The Gary City Council on Tuesday voted 8-0 to approve a zoning ordinance for the business. The business will be at 5725 Miller Ave.

The business is owned by Drew Fox, and he previously said it will consist of a brewery and taproom.

Council members said there was concern about parking in the area.

George Rogge, president of the Miller Business Association, said during the public comment portion of the meeting that the brewery already has a strong following from Chicago residents.
