Mayors roundtable at PUC
HAMMOND | Purdue University Calumet kicks off its weeklong Martin Luther King holiday celebration with a mayoral roundtable discussion on the power for peace, reconciliatory healing and transformation. It features the mayors of Gary, East Chicago, Hammond and Lake Station and runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the in the Students Union and Library Building in Alumni Hall. The dialogue is an hour and followed by a ribbon cutting for the Building a Culture of Peace for the Children of the World Exhibition on campus.

Youth corps Gospel Awards
GARY | The African-American Achievers Youth Corps Inc. hosts the second annual Stellar Gospel Awards – Gary Style. from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Glen Theater, 20 W. Ridge Road, Gary. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread and coffee. Soft drinks will be available, as will adult beverages. Desserts also available. The council supports many ministries within the parish and beyond. The cost is $7 adults, $3 children 6 to 12, free for children 5 and younger.
