One-Dollar Book Sale

 

GARY | The Big One-Dollar Book Sale opens a four-day run in the Moraine Student Center at Indiana University Northwest. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday.

 

WEDNESDAY

Arc open house in C.P.

 

CROWN POINT | In celebration of Disability Awareness Month, the Arc of Northwest Indiana hosts an open house at each of its centers. Guests will have the opportunity to visit and discover each of the various programs available. The Crown Point open house is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Indiana South Center, 550 E. Burrell Drive.

Diversity luncheon planned

 

HOBART | The Urban League of Northwest Indiana hosts its diversity and inclusion awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Avalon Manor, 3550 E. U.S. 30.

Arc open house in Highland

 

GARY | The Arc of Northwest Indiana holds an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Arc Northwest, 2660 W. 35th Ave., Gary.

Andrean hosts college fair

 

MERRILLVILLE | Andrean High School sponsors a college fair from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the school, 5959 Broadway. Admission representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities will be available for questions on admission topics, financial aid, college application procedures and more.

Family night at C.P. school

CROWN POINT | The Col. John Wheeler Middle School PTA hosts its annual family night with gym activities from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school, 401 W. Joliet St. It includes a movie, dodgeball and basketball, cake walk and art show. Pizza, popcorn, chips and salsa and cookies are for sale.

 

SATURDAY

Big Sell's on at Radisson

MERRILLVILLE | Purdue University conducts The Big Sell Entrepreneurship Competition from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Radisson Star Plaza, 800 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville. It's a competition that will allow any individual and/or team to introduce their business idea to the public and a group of judges. Admission is $25.

Walk to fight kidney disease

 

HOBART | The National Kidney Foundation’s second annual indoor fundraising walk is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westfield Southlake Mall on U.S. 30. Check-in is at 10 a.m., and the walk begins at 11. For more information, contact Whitney Read, (773) 661-0700, wread@skirtpr.com .

E.C. Easter egg hunt

EAST CHICAGO | East Chicago Mayor Anthony Copeland and the Parks and Recreation Department hold an Easter egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tod Park. In case of bad weather, the activities will be at Heritage Hall on Tod Avenue near City Hall.

Bunny, Barbie visit Highland

HIGHLAND | The Highland Chamber of Commerce sponsors a visit with the Easter Bunny and Barbie and all their friends at 9 and 10:30 a.m. in the cafeteria at Highland High School, 9135 Erie St. Tickets must be bought in advance and cost $6 for adults and children or $15 for a combo package of two tickets and a photo ticket. Tickets available only at Lincoln Center, 2450 Lincoln St., and the chamber office, 8536 Kennedy Ave.

Church bazaar, bake sale

MUNSTER | St. Josaphat Ukranian Catholic Parish conducts its annual Easter Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church hall, White Oak Avenue and Ridge Road. It includes a bake sale and sausage sale, ethnic and crafts items, and a demonstration of the art of making Ukranian Easter eggs.

Easter Bunny at Dyer park

DYER | The Dyer Parks and Recreation Department holds its 25th annual Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. at Northgate Park.

Fashion show, luncheon

 

HOBART | The Protection of The Virgin Mary Orthodox Church sponsors its Sand and Sea Fashion Show and Luncheon from noon to 3 p.m. at Avalon Manor, 3550 E. U.S. 30, Hobart. Doors open at noon for a bake sale and raffle basket preview. Admission is $30.

Opera star at church concert

LOWELL | Opera star Brenda Roberts appears in concert at 3 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Lowell, 520 W. Commercial Ave. Donations will be accepted.
