GARY | The Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Indiana kicked off a series of fundraising events Monday evening at Miller Bakery Cafe.
The event, Not Just Another Brick in the Wall, was aimed at raising funds for a teen center, computer lab and cafeteria. The organization is revamping the Tolleston Middle School into a center for the club.
Megan Henning, marketing manager for the organization, said in an email the group has raised $5.4 million for renovations thus far.
Monday's event focused on the group's campaign to sell engraved bricks for $100 that will be part of the building, Henning said.
The group will have two other fundraising events Aug. 19 and Sept. 16. Details of those events are pending.
