CROWN POINT | Two Gary men face multiple charges in connection with an alleged carjacking last month in Hammond.

Byron Hill, 20, and Jamal Sanders, 18, are charged with carjacking, robbery and receiving stolen property, all felonies.

Witnesses told police they were in the 4900 block of Chestnut Avenue in Hammond about 1:15 a.m. Aug. 20 when two men approached them at gunpoint demanding everything they had in their possession.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the women told the men all they had was a 2000 Ford Explorer belonging to a friend.

The vehicle has not been recovered, but police later discovered items from the sports utility vehicle had been pawned in a Hammond shop. They included an iPhone, headset and guitar pedal, the affidavit states.
