GARY | Two men have been charged for allegedly burglarizing a scrap metal yard last September.
Lake County prosecutors said 20-year-old Dennis D. Jelks, and Brian D. Williams, 27, have been charged with one count each of burglary and theft.
According to court documents, the incident occurred at approximately 8:58 a.m. Sept. 30 in the 1000 block of Virginia Street.
Police said an officer arrived at the scene and discovered Jelks and Williams loading metal parts into a pickup truck.
Upon investigation, it was discovered the two men had allegedly broken into the scrap yard by making a hole along the south side of the fence that enclosed the yard.
