GARY | A 24-year-old woman was arrested early Wednesday in the 400 block of Clark Road after police saw her brandish a gun and fire it in the air, Gary police said.

Officers saw the driver of a vehicle pull out of a parking lot at 2:22 a.m., stick her arm out a side window and fire a semi-automatic gun into the air three times, police said.

Police stopped the driver, later identified as Taylor Mayes, as she pulled into a gas station at Fifth Avenue and Clark Street, police said.

Officers seized the gun and arrested Mayes, who faces a charge of criminal recklessness. Police said Mayes also had an outstanding warrant from Lake County for failure to appear in court.
