GARY | A 23-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a crash early Tuesday that injured her 3-year-old daughter.
Police said the wreck occurred about 3 a.m. at the corner of East Third Avenue and South Grand Boulevard in Gary.
Officers at the scene found the vehicle had sustained heavy damage, police said. The driver was uncooperative with police after she was transported to the emergency room for treatment, police said.
A test showed the driver's blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit, police said.
After she was treated, the driver was taken into police custody. Her daughter, who suffered a broken leg as a result of the crash, was turned over to Child Protective Services.
Charges were still pending.
