A woman who stopped to help a co-worker being chased by an ex-girlfriend was stabbed Friday in Gary, police said.
The 32-year-old victim was driving home from work about 6:05 p.m. in the 300 block of South Lake Street, when she saw a male co-worker running down the street being chased by a woman, Gary Police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
When the woman stopped to offer the co-worker a ride, the second woman came up to the vehicle, accused the pair of having a relationship and pulled a knife, King said.
The first woman got out of the car to talk. The second woman allegedly slashed out at her, hitting her forearm. The pair struggled and the first woman was cut again on the face, King said. The second woman, who the man later told police was his ex-girlfriend, fled.
The co-worker told police she would drive herself to the hospital. !~ Paul Dailing, Times Correspondent
