25-year-old Gary man killed in shooting on Aetna Street

GARY | A 25-year-old Gary man was shot and killed there Monday night.

Richard G. Taylor, of the 3700 block of Oakdale Drive, was pronounced dead at 10:53 p.m., according to a statement from the Lake County coroner's office.

Taylor was shot and killed in the 900 block of Aetna Street. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Taylor left his home about 9:15 p.m. to go to the store, Gary police Cpl. Gabrielle King said. Sometime between 9:20 and 9:55 p.m., Taylor was shot in the street in the 900 block of Aetna Street.

When officers arrived, they found Taylor down in the street and saw two men wearing dark clothing running east from the area, King said.
