GARY | A 21-year-old Gary man was killed early Tuesday and two people were questioned in the shooting, police said.

After receiving calls of shots fired about 3:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of Hayes Street, police found Dorian Johnson lying on the basement floor, police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.

Johnson, of the 1900 block of Garfield Street, was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner's office.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner's office. The manner of death is pending.

Two people who were at the scene were taken into custody and questioned, King said. As of Tuesday morning, police expected to release both of them, she said.
