GARY | An 18-year-old man told police he was shot by a person he agreed to drive somewhere, Gary police said.

The victim said a man he didn't know asked for a ride about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at a gas station on 49th Avenue and Broadway, police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.

The victim agreed but was later shot by the man, King said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police Cpl. Mike Barnes at (219) 881-7434.
