GARY | A 7-year-old boy was shot in the head just after midnight Sunday as he was celebrating Christmas with family in the 1000 block of Durbin Street, according to Gary police.
Leonard Cobb, who does not live at that address, was transported to Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary and then to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago, said Cpl. Gabrielle King, Gary police public information officer.
As of Sunday afternoon, the boy was listed in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital.
Leonard was in the living room when shots were fired from outside the home, King said. Also struck by the gunfire was Kenneth Farr, 36, of the 1100 block of Durbin Street, who was in the kitchen of the same home. He was wounded in the groin and taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake.
Anyone with information on the shooting should call Detective Alex Jones at (219) 881-7477.
