GRIFFITH | The Griffith Memorial VFW Post 9982 Ladies Auxiliary has announced Thomas Duncan as the winner of its Voice of Democracy Scholarship Essay Contest.
The Griffith High School student's essay, "Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?" was submitted to a review committee. "His sincere perspective on this subject has earned him a monetary gift and Voice of Democracy certificate," said Tina Janke of the auxiliary.
The contest begins at the post level, and winners advance through the district, state, and national levels. As an essay continues winning, scholarship earnings for the writer increase. National winners are invited to Washington DC to accept their awards.
"A special thanks our Griffith High School and Middle School teachers, students, and principals for their deep appreciation of our veterans' services, and participation in this scholarship program," Janke added
