GRIFFITH | A 16-year-old Gary boy has been charged as a juvenile in the shooting of a Griffith teen Saturday night at The Mansards Apartments.
Officers were called at 9:39 p.m. Saturday to the 1800 block of North Arbogast Street for a report of an assault with a firearm, Griffith Police Chief Ron Kottka said.
When officers arrived, they found several people in the area and a 16-year-old male resident of the apartment complex with gunshot wounds, Kottka said.
The teen was taken to The Community Hospital in Munster with injuries that were not life-threatening, Kottka said. The boy's condition was not known Monday morning.
The Gary teen was charged as a juvenile in connection with the shooting, Kottka said.
Investigators are still working to determine what sparked the shooting and are continuing interviews with witnesses, he said.
