CROWN POINT | A Griffith man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a lesser Class C felony charge of attempted exploitation of a child in Lake County Criminal Court.

Lake County prosecutors charged Taisheen Arien King, 38, in April 2012 with one felony A count of child molesting and a C felony count of attempted exploitation of a child. According to court documents, the molestation of the 12-year-old child in his Griffith home occurred from Jan. 1 to April 9, 2012.

In confirming his guilty plea, Criminal Court Judge Diane Boswell advised King he would face 20 to 50 years in prison if convicted on the child molestation charge.

The plea agreement with prosecutors dismisses that Class A felony charge.

King faces a sentence of two to eight years in the Indiana Department of Correction on the C felony charge.

Boswell took the plea under advisement and will sentence King on May 7.
