GRIFFITH | The state organization of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority awards a variety of scholarships to college students throughout Indiana each spring.
Tri Kappa has provided scholarship awards since 1914, acknowledging students on the local, province and state levels. Chapters, provinces and the state organization combine to give $500,000 annually honoring academic achievement.
Scholarship Chairwoman Dawn Parent of Griffith's Delta Omega chapter has announced Ryan DesCamp as recipient of an academic scholarship. His parents are Joe and Milli DesCamp, of Griffith.
DesCamp is a sophomore at Indiana University, Bloomington, working toward a degree in biochemistry and neuroscience, with a minor in Spanish and sociology. He plans to become a bilingual pediatrician.
Twelve $1,000 academic scholarships were awarded this year statewide to students currently enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate program, having completed at least one academic year. The Tri Kappa Selection Committee uses academic achievement, strong goals, extracurricular activities, work experience and volunteer service as criteria.
