Jury convicts man in Mansards murder
CROWN POINT | A Lake County Criminal Court jury found a Chicago man guilty of murder Friday in last year's shooting of a man at The Mansards Apartments in Griffith.
Jurors deliberated about one hour and 40 minutes before convicting Robert E. Davis, 45, in the shooting of a Dolton man who had been staying in the 1800 block of Mansard Blvd.
Parrish L. Myles, 38 died of multiple gunshot wounds.
The shooting led to a police pursuit through three communities last July. Police pursued Davis and his nephew, Lyndon C. Davis, 29, also of Chicago, who fled west on Ridge Road and onto Interstate 80/94 before ending back in Highland.
Lyndon Davis, whose murder case remains pending, told police he was home when his uncle asked him to go for a ride.
Once at the Mansards, Robert Davis was identified as the man observed talking to Myles before shots rang out, police said.
Robert Davis is believed to have killed Parrish to collect a bounty on Myles' head in connection to missing money and drugs.
Davis is set for sentencing Feb. 28.
