GRIFFITH | The Franklin Center is about to welcome two new tenants.
The building, which is the former site of Franklin Elementary School, was purchased by the town last year and already has the YMCA renting most of the first floor.
The Town Council said the second floor soon will be occupied by the Porter County Employees Insurance Trust and the South Shore Dance Alliance.
"It's a standard lease agreement" for three years, Clerk-Treasurer George Jerome said of the two contracts. He added that the YMCA has a similar agreement.
Jerome noted that the teachers and administrators in the Griffith public school system have joined the Insurance Trust organization.
They will be able to get basic physicals, and other basic medical services, there, he said.
The two newcomers are modifying their new rooms to prepare for their upcoming occupancy, Jerome said.
Jerome said there is one classroom left to rent on the second floor and about 1,100 square feet still available on the main floor.
