GRIFFITH | Fourth-graders in Noel Kraus' class used their creativity to match with reading and pumpkins last week at St. Mary School. The students were asked to re-read one of their favorite books and, with their families, create a character from the book using a pumpkin. Just in time for Halloween, the youngsters brought to school pumpkins disguised as a cow, a fish, a moose, and even Abe Lincoln. Kraus said the assignment was a way to encourage her students to enjoy reading and make their books come alive. She said she was impressed by their creativity and artistic talents.
