Seventeen-year-old pianist Miryea Cisneros, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Cisneros, of Griffith, won top honors recently at the Indiana State School Music Association  competition in Indianapolis, playing "Toccata" by Francis Poulenc.

Her longtime music teacher, Jack Winsor Hansen, had studied the same work with Poulenc himself in Paris in 1958.

Hansen is a graduate of the music department of Roosevelt University, where he formerly taught and studied with Rudolph Ganz and Marguerite Long in addition to Poulenc.

Cisneros is a honor roll student, senior class president, secretary of student council, member of the National Honor Society, international and booster clubs, yearbook photographer at Griffith High School.

She plans to attend Indiana University this fall, where she will continue her music studies.
