Tricks and Treats

The Portage Township YMCA will hold its annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail Walk from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at 3100 Willowcreek Road. This event is family friendly for children and adults of all ages. Families will trek through a haunted trail, collecting candy and goodies at each stop. Before or after the fun, stop in our Y-Café for concessions. Costumes are preferred, but not required. Cost is $5 per member family and $10 per non-member family. Proceeds will benefit the before- and after-school care program, Y-Care. Boo Fest

PORTAGE — Nativity of Our Savior School's Home and School Association will host Boo Fest from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at 2929 Willowcreek Road. On the school grounds, there will be a haunted house in the barn, a music-filled eerie bonfire and a new spooky corn maze. Inside the school gym will be Halloween-themed games and activities and a creepy cakewalk. New this year is a kid-friendly scary movie. All activities and games will be paid for with tickets. Tickets are $1 each or 25 tickets for $20. Food — except for candy, sweets and popcorn — will be paid for with cash, not tickets. Costumes are welcome. Monster Mash dance party

Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. and the Hammond Parks and Recreation will hold the City of Hammond’s Monster Mash Halloween Dance Party from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Jean Shepherd Center. Wear a costume for a chance to win a prize. Cost is $5 a couple, $2 per additional guest. Call 219-554-0155.

The Downtown Hammond Council is having their annual Halloween Parade and Festival on Oct. 21. Contact Karen at 219-512-4298 for more information.

Halloween at the YMCA

VALPARAISO — Halloween at the Y is 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at 1201 Cumberland Crossing Drive. This is a family event with a haunted swamp, haunted hallway, face painting, balloon animals, games, crafts, book and cake walk. The community is invited. Tickets are $6; food vouchers are $2 each.

Trunk or treat

PORTAGE — St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6540 Central Ave., will hold its trick-or-treat event in the church parking lot from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21. There will be a spooky free hayride and concession stand.

The city of Portage will host its trunk or treat event 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at Founders Square Park.

First Baptist Church of Valparaiso, 2205 Campbell St., will have a trunk or treat community event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be free candy, kid-friendly games and more. Call 219-462-8754.
