HAMMOND | Books, Brushes & Bands for Education is partnering with the Merit School of Music to bring to you its annual summer band camp.
This year the camp runs for one week from July 15 through July 19 from 6-8:15 p.m., beginning with a family dinner on July 14 at 5 p.m. located at the Merge building at 5920 Hohman Ave. Hammond. Before the family dinner, though, there will be a meet and greet for our families, as well as a placement review for students; any instrument rentals will be handed out here as well.
The camp will end with a final concert in the Merge parking lot on July 20 at 4:30pm which will be open and free to the public. So if you’re in the neighborhood, drop by and take a look at everything that Books, Brushes & Bands for Education has to offer.
There is no residency restriction for the camp. The only requirement is that there be at least two years of playing experience. Tuition for the camp is only $100 with an instrument rental fee of $35. The first 10 students enrolled will receive a 10 percent discount for the overall total cost.
There will be a registration night on July 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the Merge building, but if you are unable to make it there at that time, registration can be done over the phone or we can find a time that works best for you.
Students enrolled will be given the opportunity for different ensembles and solos through contemporary and classical music.
