HAMMOND | General Educational Development (GED) graduates and others enrolled in the adult education program of the School City of Hammond will be honored at the 29th annual Graduation and Recognition Ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Area Career Center auditorium, 5727 Sohl Ave.
Among those making congratulatory remarks on behalf of the School City of Hammond will be Cynthia Warner-Lowe, director of Adult Education. School Superintendent Dr. Walter J. Watkins and members of the Board of School Trustees will be present.
Hammond Adult Education serves area adults with GED preparation classes and testing, English-as-a-second-language classes, basic education, citizenship, and workplace education classes. Several exemplary adult education students will address the graduation audience as “Voices of the Students.”
GED graduates will receive special recognition, as will other students who have distinguished themselves for outstanding achievement and attendance. Graduates with outstanding GED test scores will be welcomed into the Hammond Adult Education Albert Einstein Society.
The 2013 Community Service Partnership Award winner will be announced. Through this annual award organizations are recognized who have partnered with Hammond Adult Education in helping meet education needs of area adults.
Following the ceremony cake and refreshments will be shared, and information about local colleges and universities will be on display.
