HAMMOND | At least 50 cellphones were taken in the burglary of an East Hammond shop Thursday, police said.

The owner of Ice Wireless told police someone pried open a window at his store in the 5700 block of Calumet Avenue sometime overnight and stole the new phones, valued at $6,000.

Cash as well as the shop's $5,000 video surveillance cameras and digital recording system also were stolen, police said.
