HAMMOND | Congratulations to the Bishop Noll Institute Envirothon Team on advancing to the state competition! The team competed at Regionals in La Porte where they attended lectures and were tested on five environmental topics: aquatic ecology, rangeland management, forestry, wildlife and soils.
With being only one point shy of first place winners from Kankakee Valley, the boys took a proud second place.
The BNI team members, students from the AP Environmental Science and AP Biology classes are: Anthony Repay, Douglas Roach, Danny Pobereyko, Brayden Banske, Will Kasprzyscki, and Nick Anglin. Their coach is faculty member Rosalie Schmidt.
The state competition will be held on April 30 in Washington, Ind. The competition will be comprised of three components: a formal presentation, a “hands-on” portion, and a written exam. Twenty teams will be competing at state, and BNI is the only team proudly representing the northwest Indiana area.
