HAMMOND | Books, Brushes & Bands for Education will host a Poetry Pantry lll in partnership with First Friday Wordsmiths of Purdue University Calumet on Saturday at Circle of Services, 2835 165th St., Hammond.

The event is set for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants attend poetry workshops by group level: elementary school, middle school, high school and adult.

The event is open to those at least 8 years old. Participants are asked to bring at least one nonperishable food item. Cost is $15 per participant and $12 for each additional family member.

Preregistration is required by calling (219) 932-3232 by Thursday.

Food donations can be made at the Books, Brushes & Bands office at Merge, 5920 Hohman Ave., Hammond, and at The Writing Center or the CLO lobby at PUC.
