A Calumet City woman is $100,000 richer, thanks to a winning lottery ticket purchased at a Hammond grocery store.

Constance Shanklin bought the $100,000 Taxes Paid scratch-off ticket at Strack & Van Til, 115 Sibley St. in Hammond.

"I'm going to buy a car and help a few people out," Shanklin said in a statement issued Thursday by Hoosier Lottery.

Through the Taxes Paid game, Hoosier Lottery pays the taxes imposed on lottery winnings, meaning Shanklin received a check for the full $100,000.

"I was really numb," she said. "When I initially scratched it off, I was dumbfounded. Now it is a very good, happy feeling."
