HAMMOND | The Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana will continue with its Second Saturday Family Science Program on May 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. Attendees may participate in the mini mission package, which includes a laser light show and a planetarium show for $15 per person.
Families will work together as they restore communication with the Curiosity Rover on Mars. After the mission is complete, a presentation on the Earth, Moon and Sun will be played in the planetarium, followed by the iPop laser show. The laser show features popular artists such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry.
A separate planetarium show and laser show are also available. The planetarium show, Spring Sky Show and Extreme Planets, showcase several worlds that may be similar to Earth or nothing like our home planet, with planets featuring molten landscapes, inhabitable moons and multiple suns. Planetarium show times are 3:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
The laser show will be LaserRetro, and will feature popular artists from the 80s including Tears for Fears, Duran Duran and INXS. Laser shows will begin at 4:20 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.
Tickets to either the planetarium show or laser show are $5 for adults and $3 for children 14 and under. A special package offer which includes both a laser show and a planetarium show can be purchased for $8 for adults or $5 for children 14 and under.
