HAMMOND | A 46-year-old Chicago man died Tuesday afternoon after jumping from Cline Avenue onto Calumet Avenue, police said.
Hammond police Lt. Richard Hoyda said officers responded to the area at 2:15 p.m. after receiving a call about a man with a head injury. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Hoyda said the man jumped from one of the Cline Avenue ramps onto Calumet in the city's Robertsdale neighborhood. He said the death was ruled a suicide.
The portion of Cline Avenue where the man jumped from is permanently closed.
