HAMMOND | A Chicago man was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to 20 years behind bars for his role in a sweeping Latin Kings street gang, drug and murder conspiracy case involving more than 20 defendants.

Gabriel Jalomos will spend five years on supervised release when he leaves prison, according to a court filing.

Jalomos was among 23 alleged Latin Kings members or associates, including two former Chicago police officers, indicted in the racketeering case.

The indictments filed in the case allege the Latin Kings were responsible for at least 19 murders in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana and in Big Spring, Texas, according to federal authorities.
